About the opportunity

IFYS has a newly created opportunity for two Senior Youth Workers to join the team in a full-time capacity for a six-month term.

The Senior Residential Youth Worker is responsible for providing quality care, casework services and life skill support to children in residential care. The role works collaboratively with the Case Manager to supervise and support the team of Residential Youth Workers.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Residential Youth Worker:

  • Provide trauma informed therapeutic care to young people in accordance with the Standards of Care (under the Child Protection Act 1999) and IFYS Policies and Procedures
  • In collaboration with the Case Manager, supervise the day to day running of the Residential Program
  • Work under the direction of the Case Manager to ensure the Program adheres to all reporting and documentation requirements and timeframes
  • Work in collaboration with the Case Manager to develop and publish rosters
  • Facilitate team meetings and case discussions as required
  • Provide coaching to new employees during their induction and buddy shifts
  • Provide ongoing feedback, supervision, mentoring and opportunities for skill development to Residential Youth Workers
  • Complete administrative duties accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Transport clients in a safe and responsible manner

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience working in a similar position in a similar field
  • A relevant qualification of a Cert IV level or higher
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively
  • Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining program compliance
  • A continuous learning mindset

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • Valid Queensland Driver's Licence with no restrictions
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)

Roster Week 1

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Roster Week 2

  • Monday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Thursday & Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sunday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Each Senior Youth Worker will work the above pattern on alternating weeks.
