IFYS meets the needs of some of our most vulnerable young people. The Child Protection Residential Program supports young people between 12 - 17 years of age who have been assessed as needing a placement different from family-based care. Our aim is to provide a safe, dependable and nurturing living environment for our young people.

IFYS is expanding our Out of Home Care programs into the South East of Brisbane (Brisbane to Beenleigh). These programs would have multiple Casual Residential Youth Worker (Therapeutic Case Worker) roles available. Once established, these programs will also have Permanent Part time positions available.

The Residential Youth Worker role provides services and life skill support to young people. The role is integral in assisting young people in their daily living, recreation, learning and community participation.

This is not a role for the faint hearted!

The role involves dealing with challenging and complex behaviours so you will need to have a high level of resilience. A down to earth nature and a good sense of humour are also key to this role, in helping you to quickly relate to the young people in care.

To be successful in this role, you will be a team player; have strong written communication and time management skills and you will have tenacity in spades. Experience as a youth worker is highly desirable. This role involves shift work and successful candidates must have the ability to work nights or weekends across a rotating roster.

It is now a requirement that all professionals working in residential care are required to hold or be enrolled in Cert IV or higher in a recognised field prior to commencing shifts.

Apply now with your resume and cover letter, explaining why you are the best candidate for the role.
