IFYS meets the needs of some of our most vulnerable young people. The Child Protection Residential Program supports young people between 12 - 17 years of age who have been assessed as needing a placement different from family-based care. Our aim is to provide a safe, dependable and nurturing living environment for our young people.
Our Ipswich and Toowoomba Child Safety Residential Programs currently have a part-time position and casual Residential Youth Worker positions available.
The Residential Youth Worker role provides casework services and life skill support to young people. The role is integral in assisting young people in their daily living, recreation, learning and community participation.
This is not a role for the faint hearted!
The role involves dealing with challenging and complex behaviours so you will need to have a high level of resilience. A down to earth nature and a good sense of humour are also key to this role, in helping you to quickly relate to the young people in care.
To be successful in this role, you will be a team player; have strong written communication and time management skills and you will have tenacity in spades! It's also essential that you have that fire in your belly that will see you naturally act as an advocate for young people and ensure that services are relevant, flexible and accessible. Experience as a youth worker is highly desirable. This role involves shift work.
