Our Sunshine Coast team currently has openings for Youth Workers to join our Foster and Kinship Care ‘Intensive Support' program.

Using a therapeutic care model the Youth Worker delivers support to children, young people and carers within vulnerable Foster Care placements. This role is varied and rewarding and requires diverse staff to fulfil the needs of the individuals we support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan appropriate activities with young people prioritising their safety and individual needs
  • Implement positive behavioural support plans to care for young people with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Be a positive role model in influencing behavioural change
  • Day-to-day care, including assistance with medication, transport, support with education, schooling, and relationships
  • Complete administrative duties in line with legislative and contract requirements
  • Supervise family connections
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes

Skills and requirements:

  • A passion for improving the lives of young people
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal formats
  • Experience in engaging and working with vulnerable young people and families
  • Minimum requirement of Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or similar, or willingness to enroll in relevant qualification prior to employment

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • Valid QLD driver's license with no restrictions, minimum of red P's
  • Own fully insured vehicle
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (A new check will be completed through IFYS systems)

Other requirements:

  • If progressed after interview stage, you will be requested to provide the details of two line managers to provide reference checks (this must include your current employer)
