The opportunity

IFYS has an exciting opportunity for a Case Worker to join the RESET team in this newly developed pilot program.

The Case Worker role will deliver supported referrals, brief intervention and case management services to young people in order to achieve self-identified education goals and increase their community connectedness and overall wellbeing.

RESET is an early intervention support service working with young people aged 10-16, who may be at risk of disconnection from school, family and/or community and particularly those young people who may be engaged in or vulnerable to offending.

What's on offer?

  • Fixed part-time, initial contract until September 30th 2025, 30 hours per week
  • Typical work hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday to Friday
  • Occasional need for flexible work hours until 8:00 pm
  • Salary base $85,120 per annum pro rata + super ($43.08 hourly equivalent)

The key responsibilities required for this role include:

  • Receive and assess referrals; determining eligibility and priority of response
  • Support young people to identify their education goals, develop and implement individual case management case plans with a focus on reducing criminogenic risk factors for young people,
  • Facilitate small group programs aimed to divert young people from offending, encourage pro-social connection and engagement with education
  • Identify and assess risk level for young people and respond appropriately, engaging other support services if and when required
  • Develop and maintain referral pathways for services users
  • Complete administrative duties, case notes, case plans, data collection, financial management, time sheets and incident reports
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders both Government & non-government including Youth Justice, QPS, Education & other community agencies to provide a coordinated response to the needs of young people

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Professional experience working with young people in a therapeutic capacity
  • Diploma or Tertiary qualification in a relevant area of study will be considered favourably
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strengths-based and client-centred practice
  • Strong understanding of the Youth Justice system and offending behaviours
  • A well-developed risk assessment framework
  • Flexibility and willingness to work outside typical business hours on occasion (until 8:00 pm)

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • Valid open driver's license with no restrictions
  • Own roadworthy, fully insured and reliable transport, and willingness to use for business purposes
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Criminal History Check (a new check will be conducted through IFYS systems)
